im not sure exactly how well menanoss is, they were breached and then we went to find reenforcements. Not sure if they got dagdeoth out of the city ,weather they did or not is kind of irrelevant due to the fact that the civil war is dying down. We did all this in Jr. fanwar by the way and it was very wierd. _________________ "When you have it - creativity that is - what do you have?" - David Perkins |

So Chris mentioned to me yesterday that he doesn't really know what any of the Japanese names in Fanwar mean. That made me curious, so I got out my dictionary...
Keri Johani:
Ke (毛) - Hair
Ri (俐) - Wise or intelligent
Jo (助) - Rescue
Ha (刃) - Edge of a sword
Ni (仁) - Virtue or benevolence
Mariko:
Mari (毬) - Ball
Ko (子) - Child
Solai: (was that how you spelled his name?)
So (素) - Element
Lai (雷) - Thunderbolt
Sorikonia: Adding "ia" to a place name is an English thing to do, so if we shorten it to "Sorikon..."
Sori (反) - Warp/Curve
Kon (魂) - Soul
Sashi Eten: This one actually makes some kind of sense!
Sa (茶) - Tea
Shi (市) - City
E (慧) - Wise or sagacious
Ten (典) - Ritual
Ikashi: (Had to spell it with a k or it didn't work)
I (意) - Will or intention
Ka (火) - Fire
Shi (死) - Death
More later! _________________ "Use your brain, or I'll use it for you." -Enyalie |

I found this amusing:
I've discovered Chris's secret... he gets his NPC names from Korean doll websites!

Names:
Yeah, that's my secret all right...
Anyway, the names I came up with for the Easter provinces fit pretty well. Sorikon meaning to curve or warp the soul is exactly what Sorikonia does. They make Magic Items no one else can (curve/warp- soul = spirit in the item etc.). Also, they guide and opperate as sages and judges (curve/shape ones soul= shape and guide peoples ethics).
Ikashi is pretty right on too, just ask Tyson what happened when he and his friend went looking for Gibandi there...
I could say more about Solai... but that would be meta gaming.

Hello all FanWar players:
In case you were unaware, FanWar hit the front page of the Ukiah Daily Journal on Saturday. Look for a large number of newcomers on Tuesday, so know that we will be going over the rules at the beginning and doing some simple adventures. Here is the article:

Coming out of Retirement?
Players should discuss amongst each other when the characters from last season are going to enter the game arena because as soon as they do, so do all the major baddies from last season who are somewhat dormant for now. This is a critical piece of timing for all players. The longer you wait to bring back the old players, the more time your new players have to level up and solve things at a low power level. But the longer you wait to bring them out, the more time they loose to do things they are planning on getting done. This choice could very well set the stage for the coming year, so consider carefully, talk to each other and we will take a vote at the next events.

Honestly, I think some of the most important characters right now belong to Marcus and Austin, so we might want to wait to bring characters out of retirement until they will be able to come to events regularly. _________________ "Use your brain, or I'll use it for you." -Enyalie |

I probably wont make it to the saturday event, so here is where I stand.
1) We need to fix the elder goddess shrines. This is really important and we need to not half ass it like we do everything else. And don't just take care of the one or two shrines that chris tells you about during story time. Find as many as you can and take care of them. And make sure to get whatever gift the goddesss offers you. The ladies of he nightwatch might be in town; see if they will help. My character has four levels in priest and will go with any party to fix the shrine. She will also heal people after battles.
2)We shouldn't bring characters out of retirement yet. We need to get stuff done and we won't be able to if the carackwaith are also out of retirement. Has anyone else noticed where saturday is? We won't be able to avoid them. Unless people like austin and marcus will be able to play consistently, we should't bring out our high level charcters just because we like to play them, because whenever we try to do something important we will get our asses handed to us by the carackwaith. _________________ Nell |

Lanalle makes some very good points. Other things to consider. Reedmen rust got smashed by a tornado and a flood and lord Longrass is missing. This might be a great time for some new leader to show up... as long as they think they can handle some Carakwaith showing up to. Personally, I find that working on these quests is a lot easier as my character without Carakwaith and such in the way. Yes we don't have the power level, but then, neither does the enemy, and I like those odds as a veteran player. On the other hand, the longer you wait, the longer you can't work on your Coming Out of Retirement Quests. Whatever we decide, I need to know by tomorrow.

I agree that we should wait, at least till we get some more done. The situation with the elder goddess shrines must be dealt with before anything else. I also won't be going saturday but badger mutant is level 6 priest and 2 xp away from lvl 1 life will also help any way she can. I say we see what happens on saturday and talk again after that. _________________ "When you have it - creativity that is - what do you have?" - David Perkins |
