Hello all:

Interesting ideas. I like Charge and if anything I think the other skills should come down in power, not go up. Knight is WAY to cool. With the combined two handed weapon damage they dish out like a mage and can wear full plate! They don't need anything more. I have a bunch of other little fixes to Barbarian and Samurai etc but I don't have time to go into them right now, and they are for Winter playtest anyway. I like the brainstorming in this thread. Keep the focus on simplifying the game, not adding to it, and try to come up with elegant, clear solutions.

Christopher

Ya, I am just trying to bring a little clarity to a fantasy world Shocked but how can a size 3 ghoul eat the whole party? Twice? And along with their weapons? I just want to know how it fit the axe in its mouth............... Well, if there was some way of making devour a little more realistic, it would be appriciated. Any thoughts?

Ussually things eat up to thier size in people I think. Despite being insatiable, I'm pretty sure it should have exploded... and only really massive things like kraken and dragons eat weapons and that's just because they don't notice.

If you look at the picture the mouth is like huge for a ghoul but ya it should've only had up to its size in "food".

Hello all:

Regarding Devour. It was originally designed to be an ability that Dragons and such had. We gave it to other things that were known to "eat people." I would think that smaller creatures would not eat your items (it is optional, after all). The really big things like Wyrms and Dragons and such just swallow you (that is why it reads that your items are inside the creature now). I wouldn't have a Ghoul eat your items unless it was part of the story line. But it is very possible. It is unlikely that the "swallow" your axe as much as bite pieces off of it and swallow them... as a GM I would rule that your items are shattered as well as inside the Ghoul. Second of all, monsters usually eat up to their size and then are "full" until for a while. Ghouls are insatiable canables and will eat like crazy. It has to do with an incredible matabalizm. They are undead after all. The matter may be going into them and changing, perhaps it is even in the etherial world... the GM is free to explore here. Another important point is that it is not that the creature necessarily eats ALL of you. It is that if you have been devoured, there is not enough left of you to resurect, you are forced etherial. For example, it could be that if your brain is eaten, you cannot be resurected. In this case then, the Ghoul happily cracks open everyones heads and sucks out the brains and continues. It is not that bodies are completely gone, they are just not in any state to be resurected or rebirthed. That clarification can help with situations when the Ghoul eats the whole party twice... I won't ask how that happened, an explanation is enough.

Christopher

I had a brilliant idea. do ground-based and aura effect spells affect things that are soaring? if they do, I dont think that they should, because you would be above them.

not really an idea, it is already like that. If you are soraing 20 feet above me an inferno wont damage you, but if you are just flying(not soaring) then it still affects you

What the hell are "ground-based spells?" The only spells I know of are either touch, thrown or auras.
